Fireside Conversation and Book Signing with Abby Phillip

The Abyssinian Baptist Church is honored to welcome acclaimed journalist and CNN anchor Abby Phillip for a special Sunday morning on December 7, 2025.

Phillip will join us for our 10 AM worship service, followed immediately by a fireside conversation with our pastor, Dr. Kevin R. Johnson, and a signing of her highly anticipated new book, A Dream Deferred: Jesse Jackson and the Fight for Black Political Power.

In this landmark work, Phillip examines the extraordinary life and legacy of Reverend Jesse Jackson—from his years alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to his historic presidential campaigns that reshaped American politics and paved the way for future generations of Black leadership. It is a story of ambition, faith, setback, and enduring influence that speaks directly to the ongoing struggle for justice and representation in our nation.
